AlSentis® HSS™ Brief Overview

AlSentis® HSS™ uses touch signatures to identify exactly when a surface touch occurs without using pre-determined capacitive thresholds, allowing it to inherently overcome variance, such as changes in manufacturing tolerance. Because of this novel sensing technology, touch systems can be implemented more quickly, with more reliability in more challenging environments.

AlSentis® HSS™ 5 Button Deep Water

AlSentis® HSS™ further pushes the boundaries of what is possible in electric field touch by teaching touch to work on the surface of water, as well as under the surface on 5 buttons, clearly demonstrating the robustness of AlSentis® HSS™ touch recognition technology.

AlSentis® HSS™ 5 Button with 1/2" Glass in Water

Five touch buttons working through 2mm of plastic, an air gap, and 1/2-inch glass with full functionality under water, in Windex, and with a salt water film.

AlSentis® HSS™ Advanced Discrete Touch Screen

This video demonstrates a low-resolution discrete touch screen using transparent ITO on glass with a standard AlSentis® HSS™ discrete input chip set. Because transparent ITO varies significantly, this is a difficulty product to configure to have a consistent touch response from part to part. This technique will enable very cost effective manufacturing with performance levels similar to expensive touch screen. Ideal applications: In-flight entertainment, printers, automotive, ATMs, etc.

AlSentis® HSS™ Basic Technology Introduction

AlSentis HSS™ Touch Recognition Technology overcomes capacitive variance that cripple traditional touch systems. HSS™ is incredibly robust, drives more accurate touch response, and enables new features. HSS™ makes touch-integrated solutions easier to implement, enables quicker product development cycles, and improves manufacturing yields, making implementing touch more simple, cost effective, and reliable. © AlSentis, LLC – All Rights Reserved

Current Draw: Less than 150uA
Response Time: Less than 40ms

AlSentis® HSS™ Multi-Dimensional Touch

AlSentis demonstrates the ability of AlSentis® HSS™ to recognize multiple surface touches in the "Z" dimension. This touch experience, coupled with light, haptic or sound feedback, will enable new user interface experiences. Idea applications: Printers, automotive heads-up displays, security access panels, braille applications for touch input, medical equipment, etc.

AlSentis® HSS™ 10 Button Exterior Touch in Water

AlSentis demonstrates a 10 Button Exterior Touch Application that exceeds current automotive performance specifications.

Performance: Full functionality in water
Current Draw: Less than 500uA
Response Time: Less than 40ms
Structure Note: Sensing electrodes are simple rings, not solid pads to allow LED back-lighting without adding the cost of ITO or other transparent metals.
